Minoring in Twitter: TinCaps get Rickrolled, Minor Leaguer A-Rod eats Chipotle

Justin Timberlake, closet Memphis Redbirds fan? It could be. Upon hearing he and late night host Jimmy Fallon were being shown on the videoboard at Memphis’ AutoZone Park, the man himself replied:

So you’re saying Chipotle isn’t an option?

In an effort to drum up Mascot Mania support for Gigante, the San Jose Giants offered one lucky fan a chance to throw out a first pitch at a game this week. Giants prospect Clayton Blackburn (who has made 18 starts for San Jose this season) had a little fun with his team:

To which the Giants responded:

So, what can you really say about this video? Life-size Taco Bell hot sauce packets dancing with Padres Minor Leaguers. Fort Wayne’s Walker Weickel throws on his TinCaps jacket, rolls up his sleeves and gives a memorable rendition of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” on 80s Night at Parkview Field.

USA Today created this little graphic to show off the Hot and Mild sauces:

I think we need to show Mr. Weickel some additional love with this photo he Tweeted in Chicago wearing what appears to be slightly less fashionable (somehow) than a Taco Bell hot sauce packet costume:

Cody Decker Tweets of the Week

Jason King of West Michigan is getting the royal treatment throughout the Midwest League this season:

Poor David Dahl is on the disabled list and pretty much has no friends. What movie do you think he saw?

And poor Hunter Morris, Brewers prospect and all-around good roommate, is getting a little jealous:

Chipotle Tweets of the Week

So Alex Rodriguez, not on the best of terms with his employers after spending time in the Minors, was recently in Reading, Pa., playing the Fightin Phils with Double-A Trenton when, in true Minor League form, he opted for some delicious Chipotle for lunch. Sadly, @AROD did not Tweet about his experience, but (and you can’t make this up), a guy from The New York Times covering him evidently just happened to be at that very same Chipotle location in Reading.

Jason King is back and rounding up a group to party at Chipotle:

Worth pointing out the @Chipotle Twitter handle is actually some dude named Chip.

Then there’s Adam Abraham of Akron who is attempting to add to his Spring Training weight of 228:

Dallas Beeler of Tennessee isn’t blind. He sees what’s going on with those burrito portions:
