Other top prospect performances:

Tigers MIF Hernan Perez, Triple-A Toledo: 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, R — Perez has been on some kind of tear lately, going 11-for-18 with a homer, five doubles and a triple over his past four games. The 23-year-old is slashing .283/.329/.400 for the Mud Hens.

Nationals OF Steven Souza, Triple-A Syracuse: 2-for-4, HR, 4 RBI, R — Walters may have grabbed the headlines, but Souza been the best hitter in Syracuse — and maybe all of Triple-A — for most of the season. The 25-year-old is slashing .374/.472/.589 through 46 games and is hitting .429 with three homers over his past 10 contests.

Mariners 3B Patrick Kivlehan, Double-A Jackson: 3-for-6, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, K, SB in doubleheader — The 24-year-old got off to a slow start in the Southern League but appears to have made an adjustment, hitting .472 with six doubles and a homer in his past 10 games. In 32 contests, he’s now slashing .295/.388/.455.

Rockies LHP Tyler Anderson, Double-A Tulsa: 5 2/3 IP, 3 H, 3 K — It seems like Jon Gray, Eddie Butler and Daniel Winkler grabbed most of the headlines in the first half, but Anderson has had an excellent season thus far in Tulsa, too. The 24-year-old has a 2.56 ERA, leaning on heavy groundball rates to limit opponents to a .237 average through 11 starts.

D-backs 3B Jake Lamb, Double-A Mobile: 3-for-5, HR, 2B, 3 R, 2 RBI, BB, K — There’s not much left for Lamb to prove in the Southern League, where he’s slashing .326/.399/.603 through 65 games with 11 homers and 25 doubles. The D-backs caught flack for moving Matt Davidson in a package for Addison Reed in the offseason, and while Arizona still probably could’ve gotten more for Davidson, that third baseman has struggled mightily this season while Lamb and Brandon Drury now look like excellent long-term options at the hot corner.

Rangers 3B Joey Gallo, Double-A Frisco: 2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI, R, 2 K — It’s not fair for Double-A pitchers right now, and also not fair for me to have to find something new to say about Gallo every day. Four homers in five Double-A games for Gallo after bashing 21 in 58 Class A Advanced games.

Royals 3B Hunter Dozier, Class A Advanced Wilmington: 2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R — The 22-year-old is slashing .292/.398/.421, showing a stellar plate approach with the Blue Rocks. Dozier has the strength to hit for more power than his four homers might suggest.

Royals RHP Christian Binford, Class A Advanced Wilmington: 6 IP, 3 H, 5 K — The 21-year-old dropped his ERA down to 2.19 through 12 starts, striking out 79 and walking 11 over 70 innings. The 6-foot-6 hurler has been excellent and should be due for a bump to the Texas League soon.

Rangers C Jorge Alfaro, Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach: 2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, R, 2 K — With Gallo promoted to Frisco, Alfaro is the best show in town for the Pelicans and he’s starting to hit like it. The 21-year-old is 7-for-12 with a homer and two doubles in his past three games and has his OPS up to .767 for the season.

Yankees OF Aaron Judge, Class A Charleston: 3-for-5, HR, 4 RBI, 2 R — Judge is now slashing .330/.427/.530 as a college product in Class A. At 22 years old, Judge should be succeeding in the South Atlantic League, but right now, he’s utterly dominating it and should be bumped up a level at some point in the near future.
